Hot Enough for You?

Earlier this week, The Guardian reported that the world average temperature records have been broken for a second day in a row and experts are warning that the hottest days still lie ahead.

Aside from the typical recommendations -- stay in air conditioning if you can or drink plenty of fluids, you can take a mind-over-matter approach to beat the heat. There are several European crime dramas you can catch that feature chilly temperatures, icy rain, and snowy landscapes. So grab a blanket and capture some of the shows listed here.

  • Arctic Circle: A Finnish police officer uncovers dangerous threats in the snowy Lapland region. Two seasons total, available on Topic in the U.S., Channel 4 in the UK.

  • Pagan Peak: After a body is found in a staged crime scene near the German-Austrian border, detectives from each country investigate and discover more victims that resemble pagan rituals. Three seasons total, first two seasons available on Topic and Plex in the U.S.

  • Trapped: A small, Icelandic fishing village becomes the scene of a murder investigation after a mutilated corpse is found, complicated by a blizzard that isolates the town. Three seasons total, available on Prime Video.

  • Wilder: A construction project is set to bring new life into a Swiss mountain village. But a murder jeopardizes the project. Police detective Rosa Wilder investigates and finds links to the village’s past. Four seasons total, available on Prime Video and on TV5MondePlus.
